My treatment

A treatment is:
'A film treatment (or simply treatment) is a piece of prose, typically the step between scene cards (index cards) and the first draft of a screenplay for a motion picture, television program, or radio play.'
In this I had to include: my title for my movie opening, the log line, the plot, my demographic, psychographic and my key characters. This really helped me have time to think about my idea in more depth. It was really useful as now I know more about what I am going to do and who my target audience are, so now I can shaped my opening around this.
Here is a video of me giving my presentation:

This is my prezi that I made:

And this is my script I was reading from:

My treatment for my film opening

Working Title
I have chosen this title because it foreshadows one of the main characters future.
It as so symbolises the fact that the character have to gasp for air as their life is now going to be so hectic after they have be given bad news.

Log Line
What would you do if your partner were told that they had terminal cancer? That is what happened Margo, her wife Penelope was diagnosed with lung cancer. In a tragic story that tested their relationship and effected both of their lifes for the worst.

Plot
Un like most plots this one does not have an equilibrium because at the beginning of this plot Margo and Penelope are awaiting news from a doctor. The plot actually starts with the disequilibrium. The news turns out to be bad, as Penelope has been informed that she has terminal cancer. The couple struggle through the movie as they come across obstacles – one event causes another event (causality) this then leading to them being in agreement that they should split up, however neither of them really want to. But in a twist of fait they come to find each other along their paths a few months later. Margo has found a new relationship however wants to be there for Penelope for her last few days or weeks that she has left. Margo then ruins her new relationship and spends Penelope’s last few days with her. A few days later Penelope passes away leaving Margo devastated.

I would say that they climax is when the two reunite however there is not really a resolution as the plot ends with a sad ending. However, you could argue that them reuniting is the resolution.

Demographic
I think a suitable rating for this movie would be a 15. Our target audience would be both males and females however this genre may appeal to females because it is a romantic film.
It also may appeal to an older audience because of the maturity – the fact that it involves cancer and people being in love.
British Film spoken in English however it can be sold in countries that speak English or we could incorporate subtitles so that we can sell more copies.

Psychographic
We could promote the movie by posting adds on websites and places that girls go to.  Baring in mind our older audience, we could get posters outside supermarkets.
We could also place poster and adds in train stations around the UK especially big city’s London.

Key Characters
As I am just creating the first two minutes of this film I will to need as many character of actors as you may be thinking. The two key characters would be Margo and Penelope. I would also need a narrator to do the voice over at the beginning of the film. And lastly a doctor that presents the two women with the news. My idea so far is that the first two minutes will have no dialogue just music. This, I believe will make the opening much more emotional.

However everything is not set in stone but it is bringing us one step closer to out final goal (click slide). I hope you believe in this idea as much as I do and will support me in making this film!
