Star Wars Marketing



Everywhere you look you can see star wars. Advertising, merchandise, interviews, the list goes on. In the led up to the most talked about film of 2015, all types of promotion and marketing have been made to keep the suspense up. In this blog I will show you over 10 different types of marketing that have been used to keep the convocation about Star Wars apparent in day to day life. The star wars saga is nearly 40 years old and has been around of 3 generation. Advertising Age said that "'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Tv Spend at $66 million and Rising".

So many different adverts on the telly have been designed to promote the film. Here are just some of the different ways people have been remained about the release of the film!

Clothes show

On the 5th December my school took us the the Clothes Show 2015, whist we were watching the show a storm trooper came out and started dancing. This was great because it brought about the movie, and reminded people of its realise.

On Sky there was a Star Wars channel, also there was a whole section just for Star Wars where viewers could watch all the Star Wars Saga at there own disposal for free. This helped with the hype of the movie as the audience was able to watch all the episodes before they watched Star Wars: The Force Awakens.


Interviews

Many Interviews have been taken with the cast of the show. Some of these have aired on the television. This in tern helped people that watch these shows weekly to be reminded about the release of the movie. This interviews were broadcasted all over the world, this is possible because of the mass of money that the production company had to market the film.





Merchandise

Sales of star wars merchandise, ALONE, is excepted to reach up to $1.2-1.5 billion in the 12 months surrounding the film. As star wars have a huge demographic from hard core adult fans to little children wanting to get there hands on a alight saver, it will not be hard at all to each this number. As the film is being so advertised there is not one person that does not know about it's release. This has really helped as it makes the audience have constant reminders of the release of the movie. 15 weeks before the release of the film, disney introduced the star wars merchandise, even though 6/8 weeks is more common. There were so many hard core fans that had not even seen the movie yet, however they still brought all the merchandise, people just love Star Wars. Even though it is a big risk it seems to be working for Disney as they have made an estimated domestic total as of December 31 2015, of $651,965,583. Baring in mind the movie has been out for 14 days!!!
